Trying to Keep Up...

Well, I try to read the news when I get a moment to myself and when/if the internet is working.
I'm sure most of you in the states know all about Iran's latest threats.  But just in case you missed it, you may want to read this last blog entry by Joel Rosenberg:  (His thoughts help me keep things straight.)
Sometimes I think about Israel and her constant desire to fall away from God.  In fact I just read today about how God used the King of Babylon to punish the Israelites and bring them into captivity.  They even burned the entire city of Jerusalem and destroyed Solomon's famous palace and the Temple of the Lord.  The glory days were over and God was weeding people out and looking for a remnant.  It even says in 2 Kings 24:20, "It was because of the LORD's anger that all this happened to Jerusalem and Judah, and in the end he thrust them from his presence."  God was angry.  If God is the same yesterday, today, and forever, then I'm sure He can still become frustrated and angry with His people.
I'm sure that history could never repeat itself, right!  Ha!  If you were God, how would you discipline a nation that kept turning away from you and mocked you?  Maybe you'd let the Babylonians take care of it.??  Now granted, we don't have male prostitutes worshipping at the high places to the gods of other nations, but do we?  What were the ultimate sins that God detested back then with the Israelites?  Well, it had almost everything to do with sexual impurity.  Women with women, men with men, people using the name of any 'religion' as an excuse to have sex, and worshipping other gods for good fortune.  Maybe it's a bit more sophisticated in America, but I'm afraid we're heading down that same road with a 21st century mask.
I don't know.  It just doesn't look like anyone's going to be able to stop Iran except for God and his people by faith and prayer.  And then, if He still allows them to initiate war of some kind, well, then, maybe it's for a reason.  After all, God is just.
I'm not saying I'm for war.  I'm just saying that we need to be aware of what's going on in the world and how that manifests from the spiritual realms.  Maybe I'm trying to remind myself to pray and listen and to follow God in what seems like the last days.  He may have some specific plans for us believers and we don't want to miss out on being used by God for His plans and purposes for this world while we're busy fulfilling our own.
It just seems like the numbness and isolation of our country is in for a big and rather rude awakening.
A young lady once told me that if a ladybug lands on you then you should wait for it to fly away.  If she flies away then your wish will come true.  If she doesn't then you don't have any wishes.  Today on the way home my hands were so full of groceries and I was so tired from trying to walk up the hill with all of my 40 pounds of stuff that I barely noticed her.  She landed right on my arm and stayed there the entire time.  Finally, I got home and needed to put the bags down so I could get out my keys... She was still there.  I thought, 'that wishing stuff is silly.'  But, then I thought, even if I wanted to make a wish, I don't have any wishes to make.  So, I flicked her off my arm and she flew away.
It made me think that maybe I'm a little too comfortable and satisfied in this world.  I've forgotten how to yearn for home... 'Heaven.'
"When the LORD your God brings you into the land he swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, to give you -- a land with large, flourishing cities you did not build, houses filled with all kids of good things you did not provide, wells you did not dig, and vineyards and olive groves you did not plant -- then when you eat and are satisfied, be careful that you do not forget the LORD, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery."  Deuteronomy 6:10-12

Wow, that is what you call hitting the nail right smack dab on the head Tammy. We seem to be headed right into the end times with our heads held low, not concerned there are many who are lost or fallen by the wayside. The Daniel visions showed many things that are now being revealed today. The courts are approving gay marriage, the senate and house of reps. are so corrupt that all they seem concerned with, once they are in office, is working on their next re-election process. Young people have no respect for parents, or each other. So many things are pointing to the fact the end is near. When we see how dis-respectful the world is and complacent the church it must truly hurt our precious Lord, and seem like a spit in the eye mentality for all He has done for us. Yours and My generation are the ones who have not had to work as hard as the older ones. Money flows freely, we inherit, and gain with little or no effort...ugh. May God forgive us our wicked and stiff-necked ways. He will demand obedience one way or another. It may not be pretty,...but He will correct all the wrongs. I just hate the fact that my precious kids and grandkids will probably have to suffer through it all. Love you, and proud you are staying the course. mom

ditto- kinda makes you want to build a bumker and invite all that want to know a Savior inside and never leave--'sin's crouching at our door'
